Position: EHSS Manager
(Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Manager)
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Key Responsibilities
• Ensures compliance with federal, and local EHSS laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides.
• Collaborates to implement new, update and improve existing EHSS programs, policies, and procedures. Such as but not limited to LOTO, Fall Protection, Contractor Safety, Emergency Response, and EHSS Trainings/Permits.
• Responsible for facility Emergency Response, organize fire drills and associated improvements/corrective actions.
• Manage site EHSS platforms, databases, and SharePoint for documentation of procedures, forms, SOPs, investigations, reporting, inspections, action items, communications, and other management system platforms.
• Organize/Manage Facility Emergency Response Team (ERT) meetings, roster, trainings.
• Create and maintain a systemic process to ensure workflow timelines for EHS events and action plans are adhered to including mechanisms for EHS performance and trend reports.
• Partner with Facilities/IFM/Engineering on EHSS Safety Proactive Submissions/feedback site-wide.
• Key contact for internal customers, facilities, management, and other cross functional groups, building strong relationships by handling EHSS inquiries.
• Key Contributor in promoting EHSS and Safety Culture across the organization.
• Participates in EHS operational and tier discussions, EHSS self-assessments, inspections, GEMBAs, and audits.
• Drives energy and sustainability initiatives across the Phoenix manufacturing site.
• Act as a Subject matter expert (SME) for the energy demand reduction and decarbonization efforts at the site.
• Lead energy and sustainability focus areas, and support related efforts that includes policy research, development of opportunities, conduct feasibilities studies, budgeting, and planning as well as final verification
• Drive initiatives and projects to support company’s next generation sustainability goals through close partnership with global engineering and facilities, global EOHSS teams, site / project teams and other stakeholders as applicable

• Support staff and leadership in advocating for EHSS through engagement / communication
• Manage energy audits and track opportunities through implementation and final verification
• Keep abreast of changes in regulations and technologies in the energy industries. Evaluate and apply new technologies to support site objectives and meet compliance for changes in regulations.
• Work with Global Sustainability teams across BMS, department and functional areas to implement operational changes to support compliance, energy, and sustainability savings
• Support EOHSS team with Tier Management/Metrics for EHSS Tier and OBEYA.
Qualifications & Experience
• bachelor’s degree in environmental, Physical Sciences, or Engineering
• Desirable of 5 years (10 years preferred) of Environment, Health, Safety, Sustainability experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical space.
• Experience and knowledge in Environmental Federal Regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA)
• Experience and knowledge in OSHA Federal regulations preferred.
• Experience with incidents/learning systems database (e.g., Enablon, Success Factors, Compliance Wire, etc.) preferred.
• Proven project management skills in compliance/EHSS driven operations. Experience with effectively managing and developing budgets. Effective organization and administrative skills
• Excellent planning, organizing, analysis and problem-solving skills. Strong background and understanding in the planning and execution of projects.
• Demonstrated business acumen, understanding of business needs, risks and regulatory implications in the development/assessment of design alternatives
• Ability to take initiative and adapt to frequently changing priorities simultaneously and think creatively, critically, and strategically to solve problems in a complex environment with urgency, agility, and calm.
• Prioritizes work and thinks independently, analyzes, and solves complex problems with excellent judgment, quality, and detail in an urgent manner.
• Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset that takes a proactive, solution-oriented approach to identifying issues and developing innovative and effective solutions to improve operations.
• Excellent transparent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proclivity for partnership and collaboration with peers, all levels of management, cross-functional teams at site and EHSS above site teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, organized and able to prioritize tasks to meet multiple deadlines
• Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive issues in a diplomatic manner to ensure integrity and confidentiality.
• Demonstrated proficiency with standard business management tools (MS Project, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint, word) and templates
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Must be able to take initiative and have ability to work independently and as a team member. Has a sense of ownership of programs and accountability.
