Job Description:

Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty for the spring semester to teach one course, BIOL 1111 (Introductory Biology Lab), which includes a laboratory component.

 

BACKGROUND

Trinity University is a nationally recognized, small, private liberal arts and sciences college where high-quality undergraduate teaching is valued and high impact undergraduate research is supported. The Department of Biology is composed of 14 faculty with diverse research interests and serves majors in Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Environmental Studies, Global Public Health and Neuroscience. Trinity is located in San Antonio, a large, vibrant, cosmopolitan city located in south central Texas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Modifying and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments

  • Grading assigned papers

  • Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines

  • Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director

  • Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services

  • Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin


 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Required: Master's degree in Biological Sciences

Preferred: PhD in Biological Sciences

EXPERIENCE

Required: The job applicant should have experience as an instructor in an introductory biology lab class setting.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to deliver engaging lectures, discussions, or in-class activities

  • Ability to design rigorous and meaningful assignments
