The Grant Specialist (GS) plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines throughout the sponsored project lifecycle. This includes monitoring expenses, facilitating grant administration, and overseeing the successful closeout of sponsored awards.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Transaction Approval: Reviews and approves non-payroll transactions related to grants and contracts to ensure compliance with university and sponsor guidelines. Primary issues involve sufficient justification, date of discovery, reasonableness, timelines and department approvals.
- Transactions will be reviewed daily; approval/disapproval should be initiated within one business day.
- Contacts and communicates with departments to resolve compliance issues regarding these transactions with an emphasis on customer service.
- Reviews and approves select payroll costing allocation and payroll accounting adjustments in accordance with university and sponsor guidelines.
- Educates university personnel daily on compliance issues regarding non-federal grants and contracts.
- Monitors inbox submissions and processes incoming form requests from departments and school personnel.
- Closes out accounting records for awards.
- Back-up approver for daily transactions as necessary and special projects as assigned.
