2. Part-time employees are paid hourly; the monthly salary will be prorated (the salary range listed in the job announcement applies to full-time positions).

Summary of Duties

As an employee working within the Child Welfare Program, you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.  

As a Case Aid, you will:

  • Provide administrative support to caseworkers by coordinating documentation, data entry, and assisting with assessments and case planning.

  • Coordinate background checks, complete records requests, and gather information from collateral contacts for caseworker review.

  • Supervise initial visits for children placed in foster care and facilitate transportation and visitation for families.

  • Ensure children in substitute care meet medical and mental health assessment timelines.

  • Communicate with service providers and engage with families to improve case outcomes and timeliness.

  • Attend case-related meetings, including staffing, conferences, and service reviews, to support casework activities.

  • Contribute to risk and safety assessments and support the engagement of children in temporary placements.

  • Coordinate temporary lodging by scheduling staff for shifts, sending confirmation emails, and facilitating daily huddles with caseworkers, temporary lodging staff, and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs; or

  • Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections; or

  • 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training; or

  • An associate degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services and six months of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

  • Experience engaging and building rapport with children, families, and community partners.

  • Experience providing various levels of supervision and support for children and families.

  • Experience multi-tasking and keep up with a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience using attention to detail in documentation, both physical and electronic, including using correct grammar and proofreading work.

  • Experience verbally communicating complex information clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Experience using organizational skills and systems to manage data, share information, and schedule tasks, including using Excel and other basic software.

Working Conditions

  • Your work will be conducted in offices, participant's homes, and other community sites.

  • Upon completion of training, there may be opportunities to work a hybrid schedule, this will need to be discussed and approved by your manager.

  • Occasional travel is required for attending meetings, trainings, and other case related activities.

  • This position may require occasional overnight travel.

  • This is a part-time position. Employee’s work schedule will be determined upon hire and will include at least one weekend day (Saturday/Sunday).

  • You will interact with a diverse range of individuals, including those who have experienced trauma and may struggle with emotional regulation.

  • This position requires frequent activity including, climbing stairs, walking on uneven terrain, assisting children into and out of car seats, this may include lifting, up to 50 pounds.
