The Registered Nurse Occupational Health is responsible for coordinating, pre-employment physicals, medical surveillance activities required by regulatory agencies, and immunization programs for St. Luke’s Hospital employees, School of Nursing students and volunteers. Consults with the Medical Director of Occupational Medicine on medical and technical matters.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate care and patient response to care.
- Documents findings and responses in a clear, complete, and concise manner.

- Maintains a system for the collection, processing, review, and storage of employee health records.
- Administers medical surveillance programs required by federal and state agencies, and regulations for health care workers.
- Manages immunization programs required and offered to the Hospital staff members, volunteers, and students.
- Participates in Hospital orientation programs.
- Manages blood and body fluid exposure follow-up program.
- Assists in developing and maintaining policies for Employee Health in consultation with the Medical Director or his designee, Human Resources, and Infection Control Committee.
- Stocks supplies, medications, and health education materials.
- Facilitates health promotion, health screens, and education programming for the Hospital in support of the Wellness Committee.
- Participates on Hospital committees considering issues related to Employee Health.
- Develops, implements and monitors measures of program performance.
- This position also includes all responsibilities identified in the Occupational Health RN job description.
- Demonstrates competency in assigned areas of responsibility.
PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting for up to 4 hours per day, 2 hours at a time. Standing for up to 6 hours per day, up to 3 hours at a time. Walking for up to 4 hours per day, up to 10 minutes at a time. Occasionally stoops and bends. Occasionally reaches above shoulder level. Frequently uses hands for writing. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION:
Associate's Degree or School of Nursing Diploma required
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Registered Nurse License required
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in an outpatient setting, doctor’s office, or Occupational Health preferred
Completion of a course in adult physical assessment; experience with providing in-service or education programs preferred CPR certified required
