Part Time, 12 hours/wk, 2 overnight shifts every other weekend, from 7:00 pm - 7:30 am.
Job Description Summary:
The primary job responsibility for the Medication History Pharmacy Technician is to obtain and document in the electronic order management system in a timely manner, the medication and allergy histories for patients admitted to inpatient status through the emergency department. This information will be used by physicians and other health care providers to determine treatment plans, and will provide the basis for medication orders during and following the hospital stay. The Medication History Technician must communicate effectively and courteously with patients and health care providers, using interview skills, listening techniques, medication knowledge, and available resources to develop a complete and accurate electronic list of medications and allergies for each patient. This pharmacy technician is responsible for conducting medication histories for patients admitted to the medical center through the Emergency Department and compiling the information in the electronic health record. This involves direct patient interaction as well as communicating with family members, physician offices, and retail pharmacies. The ideal candidate should have retail pharmacy experience and knowledge of brand and generic medications. The successful candidate should also possess good communication skills, including the ability to interact successfully with patients, family members, pharmacists, nurses, and all other colleagues. Ability to promote teamwork is essential.
Requirements:
Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) certification within one year of hire or PA Registered Pharmacy Intern enrolled in Pharmacy school.
High School Graduate/Equivalent
Technical School/1 Year College and 2-4 years experience preferred
