JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Van Driver - Part Time - No Benefits

Under general supervision, the Van Driver position will transport senior volunteers/or staff to and from school, field trips, and other locations as directed. Cover routes practicing legal and non-aggressive defensive driving practices as directed. Ensure the safety of volunteers during transport, loading and unloading from vans. Provide supervision and direction to passengers. Participate in routine cleaning and taking the van in for regular maintenance.

 

•    Drive a multi-passenger van over designated routes according to established time schedules.
•    Pick up and drop off volunteers at designated stops and/or home.
•    Follow County/Program policies by maintaining daily record of assigned routes, van operation and lists of volunteer passengers and tracking route times and miles.
•    Record and report any mechanical or other defects to the appropriate personnel, and request service and repairs as needed
•    Review van driver route changes, passenger changes, challenges, safety hazards or incidents with supervisor or designee as needed for recommended actions.
•    Wash, sweep, refuel and perform safety checks on vans.
•    Provide detailed reports of accidents or incidents.

Starting Salary: $13.93 - $16.02 per hour

Hours & Working Conditions:
Van Driver will typically work from 7 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday, while school is in session. There will be limited opportunities during the summer months. Duties are performed while sitting for periods of time in a motor vehicle. Duties also require periodic standing to assist passengers. Moderate lifting, bending, and crouching may be required to assist passengers in boarding and exiting vehicles. When in the field the employee may be exposed to hazards related to adverse weather conditions or vehicular traffic. Duties may be performed outside of normal working hours at varying hours of the day. 

All drivers must be at least 21 years old
Valid Utah Driver’s License and three (3) year clear driving record.
Pre-employment drug and ongoing participation in random controlled substances and alcohol use testing program. 
Criminal justice/fingerprint clearance. 

Preference may be given to those who have experience with the elderly population.
