Job Description:

Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

This permanent, part-time position is with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) located at the Fish Screens Shop in Central Point. This position will be working 20 hours per week (Monday through Thursday). The pay is $19.78 - $26.66 per hour.

What you will do:

• Provide administrative support services for fish screening staff as well as provide effective office management to ensure the workload is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Receive and inspect deliveries. Generate project invoices. Record all expenditures and keep an up to date accounting of budgets. Assign, process and review purchase documents and maintain an accurate file of all purchasing transactions. Prepare and submit monthly reports. Order office supplies, unpack and stock items received.

• Use computer software programs such as spreadsheets, databases and basic programs to accomplish reporting requirements, generate project expenditures and invoices and tracking material inventories. Compose routine correspondence. Maintain accounting of project expenses to assist project leaders and Shop Manager. Maintain and update Fish Screen databases. Maintain a filing system, file correspondence and retrieve information for staff. Receive, open and route incoming mail. Sort, route and stamp all outgoing mail.

• Greet and provide assistance to the public by responding to inquiries by mail, phone and in person regarding hatchery operations, fishing and hunting regulations, agency programs and services.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating document; OR

• An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR

• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology; and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Requested Skills:

• Using Microsoft Word and Excel

• Reviewing customer documents for authenticity and accuracy

• Sorting and shipping mail

• Providing customer service

• Providing general office support

• Tracking and updating budgets

• Data entry for PO’s, Visa’s, mileage, expense claims, etc.
