Job Description:

Under the direction of the Chair, Community Studies, Part-Time Professors/Instructors are responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students.  The professional responsibilities include the teaching of assigned courses, plus:

• delivery of regularly scheduled instruction in the Winter, Fall or Summer terms.

• providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies and the College approved Learning Management System.

• evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses.

• the development and creation of a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Disabilities Studies or related field of study.  For instructor positions a diploma in Developmental Services Worker or related field of study is required.

• Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a college setting.

• Minimum three (3) years direct work experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities in both community and school based settings.

• Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset.

• Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

• Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners.

• Have flexibility to teach during the day and evenings from Monday to Friday.
