Job Description:

Are you highly experienced in testing and troubleshooting system technical problems with knowledge of Testing tools and Test methodologies and advanced skills in learning and implementing new technologies? This is the opportunity for you!

The Public Employees Retirement System is recruiting for a Quality Assurance Test Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 5).

  • This is a full-time, permanent position.
  • This position is based at our headquarters office in Tigard, Oregon, however, the successful candidate will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
  • This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
  • This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

We serve the people of Oregon by administering public employee benefit trusts to pay the right person, the right benefit, at the right time.

What you will be doing:

1. Test Script Development: create and maintain test scripts (manual and/or automated) 

2. Test Execution: perform testing activities to validate software functionality, performance, and security.

3. Regression Testing: Perform regression testing after code changes to ensure that existing functionality remains intact.

4. Integration Testing: Verify interactions between different components or modules of the software to validate data flow, APIs, and system integrations.

5. SDLC: work closely with Release managers, DevOps engineers, Business System Analysts, Product owners and developers to support SDLC.

6. Defect Identification: Investigate when a test fails and report defects. Work closely with developers to resolve issues promptly. Be the point of contact, reporting product defects and following up until issues have been resolved.

7. Performance Testing: Create performance test scripts to assess system responsiveness, scalability, and resource utilization.

8. Maintenance and Enhancements: Maintain and enhance existing test scripts as the application evolves, including updating tests for new features and fixing any script-related issues.

9. Documentation: Document test automation, test scripts, test data, and test environments. Train and share knowledge with other team members.

10. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, business product owners, project manager and other QA team members. Effective communication is essential.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Quality Assurance Test Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 5)

(a) Four (4) years of information systems experience in: Quality Assurance and Test Case development preferably for Pension or Financial Systems


OR

(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
 

AND
 

Two (2) years of information systems experience in: Quality Assurance and Test Case development preferably for Pension or Financial Systems

OR

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above

Candidates who are the most competitive will possess the following skills, background, and areas of experience:

  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence technical concepts at all levels of an organization.
  • Highly skilled at learning and implementing new technologies.
  • Advanced experience in testing and troubleshooting system technical problems.
  • Experience in creating and managing manual and automated test suite.
  • Understanding of relational Database concepts and proficiency with SQL
  • Knowledge of Test methodologies like Agile, V-Model, Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Experience in working with a DevOps CI/CD Pipeline and SDLC.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools and Azure Cloud technologies
  • Industry Certification in Testing would be a plus.
  • Programming languages and/or Scripting knowledge would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Testing tools like Test Complete, Selenium, Cucumber, Jenkins, Appium, etc. would be a plus.
