Job Description:

The Oregon Water Resources Department has an exciting job opportunity on our Information Services team for a Service Desk Technician! If you are a service-oriented Information Technology professional and enjoy having a wide range of tasks throughout your day while providing effective and efficient customer service, then this could be the position for you!

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Eligible for OT in the form of compensatory time with manager approval

Monthly Compensation: The monthly salary range before PERS* will be $4,741-$7,170 | after PERS* will be $5,072-$7,665. This is salary range 25.

Work Location: North Mall Office Building, 725 Summer St. NE Suite A, Salem Oregon 97301. 

Hybrid/Remote Work eligible based on business need.

About our Team 

The Information Services section is a relatively small but mighty team of professionals who are critical to the optimal functioning of the Department. The team is comprised of three-sections: 1) Application Development 2) Service Desk 3) Network, Systems, and Data. 

About the Position 

The primary purpose of this position is to provide desktop administration and support to agency staff.

This position resides in the service desk unit which acts as a single point of contact between the Information Technology (IT) organization and the business for all incident reports, service requests, change notifications, and any other necessary communications.

This position will provide customer assistance and day to day operations around desktop, networking, and software support. This position will work closely with Data Center Services and Cyber Security Services staff on escalated technical issues and information security issues. This position also works on technical support on a variety of technologies under the guidance of the agency’s Systems Administrator, Database Administrator and Service Desk Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of information systems experience in:

Direct customer facing IT Support on networking issues, hardware and software issues

OR

An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND One (1) year of information systems experience in:


Direct customer facing IT Support on networking issues, hardware and software issues

  • Strong desire to learn, modernize, and apply new technical skills or technology enhancements to adapt to the ever-changing IT environment.
  • Demonstrated skill in some programming language.

Working Conditions 

Office environment with the following conditions:

• High volume of quality work must be accomplished within tight timeframes with minimal supervision

• Requires concentration while working on highly technical information in an open office environment where there are frequent interruptions

• Requires managing multiple and competing priorities

• May require irregular work hours, including night and/or weekend work

• Requires frequent and extended periods of desktop or laptop computer use

• Requires excellent oral and written communications skills

• Requires conflict resolution skills

• Requires constant use of computer input/output devices

• Occasional light lifting of under 50lbs.

• Occasional travel around the state using a state vehicle. Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required.
