Position: Visiting Scientist 

Location: CITRE (Sevilla, ES) 

 
Position Summary 

We are searching for three Visiting Scientists to embark on a transformative 3-month journey with our JOB IS FROM: partimejobs.netVIEWResearch team based in Seville, Spain. Bristol Myers Squibb’s Center for Innovation and Translational Research Europe (CITRE) R&D site based in Seville, Spain brings together computational, clinical, and translational research teams to redefine drug development. The internship would run from the 1st of April through the 30th of June.

Who you are  

We warmly encourage candidates that have the right to work within Spain (for instance citizens of the European Union) to apply for this position, even if not all the following requirements are strictly met: 

  • You are currently enrolled in a master or doctoral program in bioinformatics, computational biology, machine learning, or a related field (beyond year one) and are eager to apply your knowledge in a practical, real-world setting 

  • You are fluent in English, and capable of discussing scientific and technical topics 

  • You enjoy coding in a high-level programming language such as Python, MATLAB, or R and bringing your ideas to execution 

  • Previous experience working with multiple-omics datasets, explainable AI, or unsupervised/supervised machine learning methods is desirable but not strictly required 

 

Our Unique Internship Projects – Where Your Expertise Will Shine: 

The internship would run from April through June and will require physical presence at CITRE in Seville. You will be involved in one of three projects spanning different fields of expertise:   

  • Integrate drug screening data with RNAseq and scRNAseq data, apply dimensionality reduction, perform differential expression analysis, use clustering and classification methods, and conduct pathway and network analysis to understand biological mechanisms 

  • Contribute to building trust between medical professionals and machine learning models by enhancing explainability in geometric deep learning models for cancer research 

  • Implementing novel self-supervised methodologies for molecular property prediction tasks using geometric deep learning models 

 

Desirable skills: 

Depending on the selected projects, different skills may be desirable but not strictly required. 

  • Ability to create clear and informative visualizations, as well as to report and present findings 

  • Grasp and implement cutting-edge methodologies from research literature 

  • Good grasp of machine learning concepts 

  • Experience with AI/ML, or with the implementation of deep learning methods in frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or PyTorch Geometrics 

  • Experience with molecular property prediction tasks
