This Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) is part of a project funded by the Chucker Airing Foundation.  It is a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and will include psycho-educational aspects while also holding a workload.

This is a Second shift, after-school hour, .5FTE. Ideally looking for a candidate who can work 4 days a week, with slight negotiation with schedule.

Position Summary-

Provides outreach, education, and consultation to members/students, families, team members, and community partners at six partner Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) after-school sites. Provides individual therapy and other social emotional interventions with members using trauma-informed, evidence-based, inclusive practices.   Works closely with the Project Implementation Coordinator to implement, document/track, evaluate, and report on the goals and successes of the program.  Makes referrals and recommendations as needed.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification

Completion of all necessary documentation and fees for LPC In-Training or APSW licensure.  LPC In-training or APSW licensure is required within 30-45 days of start date.

Must hold a valid WI driver’s license and be insurable under the organization’s insurance plan.

Education

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.

Experience

Requires 1 year of prior experience in any setting interacting with children and adolescents. 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrated ability to provide quality individual, group and family therapy using Evidence-Based Practices.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with caregivers, colleagues, and community partners.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work professionally across multiple organizations to ensure successful team coordination and program implementation.

Demonstrates skills in self-directed work, autonomy, creative problem solving, and managing through ambiguity.

Committed to continual development of cultural competence and valuing diversity.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Provides services in a setting where there is potential for exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids, chemotherapy agents, communicable disease and hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste.

Child and adolescent school/Club conditions. Therapists may:

  • Be exposed to bodily fluids (e.g. tears, saliva, blood).
  • Encounter distressing patient stories/traumas that require individual and team resilience.
  • Need to crawl on floor or engage in play-type activities with children in therapy.
  • Need to verbally de-escalate upset children, adolescents, or adults.

Requires working in multiple office and school environments as well as outdoors and driving.

Must be able to tolerate heat and cold fluctuations and variances in school/office environments.

Some evening hours required.

Position requires local travel within Milwaukee.

Preferred Job Requirements

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification

Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Professional Counselor (LPC) from the State of Wisconsin and satisfy continuing education requirements.

Ideally, will complete Children’s credentialing application prior to start date.

Experience

Experience working in community programs with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background.

Experience working with children and families in a school or integrated health care setting.
