Job Description Summary

This position is a key member of our large team and as a member of the team is responsible for supporting the basic philosophy of Penn Children's Center: "Learning through Play."

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teaching staff, in any manner required, in order to foster the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each child.

  • Enable and assist the teaching staff in guiding, and supervising children 12 weeks to 5 years in accordance with NAEYC, Keystone Stars, and DHS guidelines.

  • Assist teaching staff in carrying out daily activities and lesson plans according to the HighScope curriculum.  

  • Arrange and maintain educational materials and equipment.  

  • Operate, and participate, in an environment that is grounded in respect, appreciate diversity, and believes in the "art of the possible" and the "power of positivity."

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate is highly preferred.  In the absence of a high school diploma or general educational development certificate a minimum of an 8th grade education and 2 years of experience with children.

  • Strong communication, collaboration and nurturing skills.

  • Evidence of initiative and adaptability to change.

  • Flexibility to work during Center operating hours as required to ensure appropriate service provision and to meet licensing ratio (i.e. normally between 7:30am-6:00pm).

  • Experience working with a diverse group of families.

  • Skills in language, art, music or drama highly regarded. 

  • The ability to maintain a positive attitude and demeanor, even when things don't go well.

  • A comprehensive background check will be undertaken for this position.

The Penn Children's Center is for children ages three months to five years. Pay Range

$15.34 - $15.69 Hourly Rate
