Job Description

This is a remote or hybrid role depending on proximity to office location.

The Application Architect is responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of technology solutions that are aligned with business needs, reflects best practices and increase option value for the organization. Makes high-level design choices focused on manageability, scalability, usability, resiliency, availability, security, and/or safety for the software structure, protocols, and algorithms. Determines coding, development tools, validation, and standards compliance requirements. Collaborates with management, product owners, and project managers to evaluate the feasibility of requirements and determine priorities for development. Performs pathfinding, surveys technologies, participates in standards committees and presents at external and internal events. Interacts with multiple technologists in the company to influence architectures and optimize/customize software offerings.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on design, development, and execution of software solutions.

  • Design and implement easy-to-use and intuitive User Interfaces.

  • Develop and use relevant industry standards and domain information models to satisfy functional and non-functional requirements and achieve compliance with mandated standards/guidelines.

  • Participate in proposing new technical architectures and solutions to improve and enhance existing architectures.

  • Determine scope and provide level of effort estimates for project tasks and related activities, and match required skill sets to task requirements and allocate team resources appropriately.

  • Provide technical architecture subject matter expertise and services for new and existing projects.

  • Conduct or facilitate collaborative data modeling activities among multiple stakeholders.

  • Support the business development efforts where data architecture and analysis requirements are defined.

Job Requirements – Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field - Required 

6+ years of experience - Required  

Additional Job Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of the complete software development lifecycle with ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.

  • Deep knowledge of designing enterprise-scale applications using distributed, micro services, Domain Driven Design (DDD), event-driven, and cloud native architectures.

  • Experience in building a system with high-security standards and has a very good understanding of common vulnerabilities and attack vectors and how to prevent them.

  • Solid knowledge of .Net/.NetCore or Java development.

  • Broad and deep knowledge of web technologies, REST, GraphQL, Design Patterns (CQRS, Outbox, SAGA, Circuit Breaker, Mediator etc.)

  • Knowledge of cloud Azure, Docker, Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of Generative AI like LLM, RAG, Open AI etc.

  • Experience with data modeling and schema design, data harmonization and normalization, and data integration approaches and technologies such as those used in multi-source enterprise application integration, data security and access control and service-oriented architecture solutions.

  • Architect experience with practical background in systems, application development, and languages

  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server and other database systems, .Net development processes and best practices, and overall architecture of all layers of the application set

  • Experience in distributed computing architecture leveraging latest technology paradigms such as Service Oriented Architecture

  • Experience with highly-available system architecture and deployment for mission-critical solutions

  • Familiarity with information integration activities such as mapping and transformation, data validation, and data analysis including data mining and business intelligence

  • Experience architecting and designing complex IT systems preferred, especially external customer facing applications

  • Experience building and supporting mission critical applications, running in a highly distributed manner

  • Familiarity with various requirements gathering techniques

  • Familiarity with configuration management concepts and tools, source code control, and development standards

  • Familiarity with software usability concepts

  • Experience working with multiple customers and technical staff, including building consensus and mediating compromises when necessary

  • Strong logical and technical problem-solving skills

  • Ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts

  • Strong judgment and decision-making ability

  • Passion and ability in providing excellent customer service

  • Experience overseeing (from a technical perspective) multiple projects

  • Understanding of application security technologies and approaches (Active Directory/ADAM, LDAP, SiteMinder)

The compensation for this role is $140,000 - $160,000 and is bonus eligible.
