QUALIFICATIONS
License /Certification
Required:
CNA, EMT/Paramedic, Medical Assistant, or completion of 1st semester of RN program.
BLS
Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work well with the public and to relate well with diverse personalities.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Self motivated to learn new skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Participates in the initial and ongoing assessment of the Emergency Department patient. Takes initial and serial vital signs as required. Properly attaches cardiac monitor and records rhythm strip as directed. Applies the SaO2 sensor as directed. Reports pertinent findings or changes in patient condition to licensed personnel.
Actively involved in delegated duties during emergency situations: Code Blue & Trauma Alert. Applies electrodes and immediately documents rhythm strip. Performs chest compressions.
Accurately enters vital signs into ED patient management computer system. Documents initial and serial rhythm strips as needed. Documents pertinent information such as Intake and Output.
Transports patients during the admission and discharge process using the appropriate mode as indicated based on the patient complaint or condition.
Performs 12 Lead Electrocardiograms as directed by ED physician or designee.
Is consistently able to correctly identify the basic rhythms and distinguish between life threatening arrhythmias.
Correctly applies splints to ED patient extremities and has them inspected by licensed personnel prior to patient discharge.
Following procedure, prepares wounds and lacerations for closure.
Correctly sets up exam room for pelvic exam. When requested, assists physicians or midlevel providers with exam and specimen collection.
Additional
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.

Pay Range
