What You’ll Do:
This will be a unit based position supporting patient care by insuring cleanliness of and upkeep of equipment and supplies, thus creating a safe environment for the delivery of patient care. Performs a variety of functions to prepare and maintain equipment and supplies as needed by the unit staff. Set up patient care rooms for admissions, cleans patient care equipment as dictated by department policy, assists with patient transport. Restocks equipment as needed. Maintains par level of equipment. Reports defective equipment or deficiencies in supply, enters intranet requests as necessary.
How You’ll Do It:
Understands and satisfies the supply and equipment needs of the neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent and/or adult patient.
Assists RN with patient transport.
Provides services and covers bedside/pod restock, as assigned.
Checks expiration dates of products located on par level locations of patient care areas.
Cleans patient care equipment as directed by department policy.
Maintains par level of equipment. Restocks equipment as needed.
Set up supplies for sterile bedside invasive and surgical procedures and remains available for assistance with equipment needs throughout procedures.
Set up of sterile fields for bedside procedures
Clean up after bedside procedures including handling of biohazard waste, disposable of sharps, and restocking of any used supplies from specialty carts.
Works with sterile processing to obtain equipment necessary for NICU bedside procedures.
Maintains department supplies and equipment needed for patient care. Ensures equipment and supplies are stored appropriately. Cleans equipment and supplies after use. Reports any deficiencies or unsafe equipment to the RN or manager immediately.
Supports the unit environmental needs by maintaining cleanliness in the treatment room, isolation room, kitchen, breastfeeding room, patient care areas, supply area, and the department in general. Keeps patient food refrigerator and medication refrigerator clean and uncluttered.
Requirements:
Requires the level of technical knowledge normally acquired through completion of high school.
Current CPR required - Heart Saver CPR/AED.
Schedule Details: 24 hours/week, 2nd shift
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit-
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 76-bed unit designed for the individualized care of critically ill newborns and their families from admission to discharge. These infants are admitted from a diverse geographical area for specialized medical and/ or surgical needs. These infants and families are cared for by a unique blend of interdisciplinary caregivers: neonatal nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners, lactation consultants, human milk technicians, physicians, OT/PT and speech therapists, respiratory care practitioners, social workers, pharmacists, dieticians and internal case managers.
