UMass Global (formerly Brandman University) offers nationally recognized academic programs for the nontraditional learner fully online and through UMass Global MyPath, its self-paced online competency-based education.

The University of Massachusetts Global is seeking an experienced Adjunct Faculty in Spanish culture to assist in the development of a Bilingual Authorization (BILA) course. This role focuses on aligning curriculum with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) standards, specifically addressing Spanish cultural knowledge to support the CSET V examination requirements. The ideal candidate brings a robust understanding of Spanish-speaking communities and proven experience in developing educational content aligned with California’s bilingual authorization standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with academic and instructional design teams to develop a culturally responsive curriculum that meets CTC bilingual authorization standards.
  • Create instructional materials reflecting the diversity of Spanish-speaking communities globally and in California, including syllabi, lectures, assignments, exams, and assessments.

  • Design curriculum elements that enhance cultural competence, enabling educators to meet the linguistic, cultural, and academic needs of bilingual students.
  • Teach courses online in synchronous and asynchronous formats, adhering to university-provided academic standards and curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching methods to support diverse learners and cultivate an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Ensure alignment of course content with institutional learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student assignments, exams, and projects.
  • Support students' academic success and foster a respectful, engaging learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and submit grades and required documentation by established deadlines.
  • Uphold FERPA and institutional confidentiality standards for student records.
  • Incorporate current academic and industry developments into course content.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve program quality and student experience.
  • Adhere to university policies on grading, course delivery, academic integrity, and inclusivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters or higher degree in Spanish, Education, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the history, sociopolitical, and cultural contexts of Spanish-speaking communities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CTC standards for bilingual authorization.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) proficiency.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, preferably in bilingual education.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in teacher education or bilingual programs in California.
  • Familiarity with educational technologies and instructional design.

Compensation

  • Non-Instructional Work Assignment $23.17 per hour

Remote Work: Available to candidates residing in the following states:
