Job Description
Under general supervision of licensed personnel and administrative personnel, the Medical Assistant will schedule/confirm appointments and complete prior authorization with the location for an assigned patient population.
In addition, the Medical Assistant will perform a variety of receptionist, clerical, record keeping and miscellaneous duties in support and care of services provided in an outpatient or inpatient medical setting.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinates appointment patient outreach, scheduling scheduling/rescheduling /canceling appointments
- Responds to callers’ general information requests and/or inquiries; refers callers to most qualified area, if applicable.
- Responsible for scheduling hospital and ambulatory admissions/procedures. Ensure appropriate action was taken in a timely manner.
- Schedules future appointments, tests, and completes referrals as ordered by the physician.
- Completes prior authorization
- Performs general office duties as assigned
- Adheres to all WMG Compliance Program Policies and Procedures including all regulatory financial and OSHA requirements. Participates in and contributes to help achieve a total compliance program
General Qualifications Standards and Job Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks in a reasonable span of time
- Strong in both verbal and written communication
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Medical Assistant certification or Phlebotomy certification
Performance Standards for Specialty Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of EMR, computer programs, and good typing skills
- Excellent data entry skills
- Bilingual a plus
- Excel Knowledge a plus
Pay Range $20.00 to $24.00/hr
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
