Job Description:
Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, security supervisor, and security lead, the security officer performs duties including, but not limited to thorough patrols, key access, security stand-bys, escorts, storage and disposition of patient valuables and lost & found items, investigations, code response, parking issues, front entrance screening, detailed report writing, and the completion of thorough logs. The security officer must have basic computer skills and strong written communication skills. The security officer must have excellent customer service skills with strong verbal communication, and be able to exhibit a calm and thoughtful demeanor in difficult or potentially volatile circumstances.
The security officer is expected to be observant and detail-oriented and report any unusual occurrences to the appropriate individuals, and must complete detailed security reports of these occurrences. Security officers are expected to be self starters who problem solve, multi-task, prioritize duties and assignments, follow directions and follow through on tasks to completion. They are also expected to coordinate with their peers to meet goals and bring tasks to completion. Security officers are expected to comply with, and enforce, hospital and departmental policies.
Experience
Experience in security in the healthcare environment or law enforcement is preferred. Must demonstrate functional word processing/computer skills and have superior written communication for clear and concise report writing.
Education
High school diploma, or G.E.D. required. A combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications
Must possess a valid California driver’s license. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. Must take and pass the IAHSS Basic Certification Exam within the first 180 days of hire/transfer. The current Montage Health authorized crisis prevention/aggressive behavior management program must be completed within the first 180 days of hire. Must obtain a valid California Guard Card within 4 months of hire.
In addition to the above CA driver’s license, the following are required: An acceptable driving record of three points or less and participation in the DMV pull-notice program.

0.7 FTE, varied days and shifts. 56 hours per pay period.
