About the Role:
We’re seeking a Senior Information Architect with extensive, real-world experience in designing and producing DITA XML content models. The ideal candidate has a technical writing background, a genuine passion for DITA, and working knowledge about how information architecture principles and practices make documentation a strategic asset. You will be responsible for the architectural framework of our documentation and play a key role in our ability to deliver the right content at the right time to our audiences.
What You’ll Do:
Implement an architecture that supports a scalable and sustainable content model that follows a DITA specification and drives best practices.
Collaborate with technical writers, documentation managers, content strategists, taxonomists, product managers, and other stakeholders, to ensure our information architecture supports business needs and delivers an excellent user experience in documentation and in-product assistance.
Help define workflows, including content creation, review, and publishing processes.
Partner closely with the content publishing team to optimize the implementation of taxonomy and metadata structures within an online web portal, ensuring efficient content organization, searchability, and user navigation.
Help develop and optimize schemas and tools, ensuring alignment between the content model and company objectives.
Enhance content reuse strategies to minimize duplication and maximize efficiency.
Occasionally develop user-facing content.
Contribute to content strategy projects as needed.
Partner with colleagues to help drive content quality and consistency.
What You’ll Need:
Significant experience as a DITA Information Architect, with a focus on customer-facing product documentation for multiple audiences (users, developers).
Proven DITA XML expertise with a strong understanding of information architecture principles and practices, including:
Content strategy and planning
Information modeling, taxonomy development, and governance
Metadata design and implementation
Search and retrieval systems
User experience and usability
Experience managing content for large, complex documentation sets, with content originating from both a large technical writing team and outside contributors.
Significant experience with at least one industry-standard Component Content Management System (CCMS).
Familiarity with the Oxygen XML Editor application for authoring, editing, reusing, and maintaining DITA content in a collaborative environment.
Familiarity with the underlying DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT) for publishing DITA content.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience with XML, XSLT, CSS, and Markdown.
Certification or equivalent experience in DITA, technical writing, or a related field (e.g., Certified Information Architect).
Bonus Points:
Cybersecurity industry experience.
Background in documentation transformations and content migrations.
Knowledge of semantic web technologies, such as RDF and OWL.
Experience with Content Delivery Platforms (CDPs).
Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and version control systems.
Familiarity with large learning models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) concepts.
Experience with data analytics and metrics tools.
Experience partnering with a localization team.
