A Brief Overview
Under the direction of Department Management, the Patient Financial Clearance Lead performs payor authorization activities in accordance with applicable payor requirements. They are responsible for completing all activities related to registration, insurance verification, authorization activities, and transition to the financial counseling department in accordance with established Stanford Health Care regulations, policies, and procedures. This is a senior level role that requires leadership skills and involves a multitude of responsibilities, including mentoring, training, and delegation of work assignments for subordinate team members

What you will do

  • Assists with coverage efforts, staff scheduling and daily assignments.

  • Willing to work (varied hours) - cover absent team members.

  • Completes insurance and authorization processes and assigns daily task and monitors daily activities and workflows.

  • Prepares timely reports/communicates to Department Manager the status of their service lines with respect to potential problems, changes, or requirements.

  • Performs daily quality review evaluations of staff and offers suggestions for improvement, reports quality concerns to Manager.

  • Leads daily huddles as needed.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert to staff for questions regarding insurance or authorization problems.

  • Provides a high level of C-I-Care when dealing with Patients/Clinical Staff.

  • Maintains the necessary technical expertise and knowledge, and information on payer requirements to ensure that all staff members are following appropriate requirements and receiving necessary compliance training.

  • Participates on task forces and committees as needed.

  • Provides effective leadership direction to immediate subordinates to include creating work tools to enhance productivity and establishing process improvement procedures.

  • Ensures subordinates receive appropriate training, guidance, and corrective counseling in a manner consistent with established policy. Provides input for performance evaluations, and employees receiving appropriate recognition and reward for their contributions.

  • Participates in recruiting, interviewing, and staffing team appropriately consistent with established policy.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Patient Financial Clearance.


Education Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent


Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience including one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience.


Licenses and Certifications

  • HFMA - Certified Rev Cycle Rep (CRCR) required within 18 month

  • Category II - Tasks that involve NO exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $44.91 - $50.57 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
