We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Purchasing Specialist. This position will be responsible for executing the day-to-day purchasing activities of Masters as well as play a critical role in resuming direct sourcing activities with our supplier partners. This will require supporting multiple workstreams, partnering with Six Sigma and delivering the necessary output required for this business-critical activity. This role involves analyzing market trends and communicating with internal and external parties in order to secure inventory on behalf of Masters. Additionally, developing procurement strategies, and optimizing the purchasing process, through data and analytics to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely inventory availability for the Sales team to action. The Senior Purchasing Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Six Sigma, Finance, Pricing, Sales, Supply Chain, ClarusONE Sourcing, McKesson Generics Operations, and external vendors to drive efficiency and support the organization's goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily purchasing tasks, including order placement, tracking, and inventory management.
- Maintain and develop as needed, accurate and up-to-date records of all purchasing transactions (trackers / dashboards).
- Communicate with suppliers, ClarusONE and Generics Operations to confirm orders, track shipments, and resolve any issues that arise.
- Ensure / communicate timely availability of inventory to meet sales team requirements.
- Enhance and grow direct sourcing activities with supplier partners.
- Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers.
- Monitor and analyze supplier performance to ensure consistent quality and delivery.
- Identify and implement procurement strategies to streamline purchasing processes.
- Utilize data analytics to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Continuously evaluate and refine procurement strategies to meet changing business needs and market conditions.
- Track pull through and ensure alignment between inventory levels and sales forecasts.
- Collaborate across the enterprise, including Six Sigma, Finance, Pricing, Sales, Procurement and Generics Operations, to ensure alignment and efficiency in purchasing activities.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide insights and support for purchasing-related initiatives, such as MT partnership to implement allocation and sequestration logic.
- Leverage enterprise capabilities to better manage inventory at a customer level.
- Work with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate inventory availability for the sales team.
- Analyze market trends to inform purchasing decisions and anticipate potential supply chain disruptions.
- Monitor supplier performance and market conditions to identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on purchasing activities, market trends, and supplier performance to senior management.
- Track and report on pull through metrics to ensure inventory decisions support sales goals.
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Education
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, supply chain, or a related field.
Critical Skills
- Requires 7+ years purchasing knowledge and experience
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Analyst, or in a similar role with a focus on inventory management, data analysis and analytics.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret large datasets.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Solid understanding of procurement strategies, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a focus on achieving cost savings and driving value.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and matrixed environment.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation is a plus.
Additional Skills
- Primary pharmaceutical distribution experience highly encouraged. Secondary pharmaceutical distribution experience considered significant advantage.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to purchasing and supply chain management.
- Understand impacts to financial statements from pricing and purchasing dynamics.
- Excellent Financial modeling skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with leaders across multiple functions to make strong business decisions.
- Extremely flexible, highly organized, and demonstrated ability to balance multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience with SAP, SQL and Tableau, PBI, Oracle a plus.
Travel Expectations: 10-20% (Primarily Trade Shows)
Salary: 94,700.00 - 126,200.00 - 157,800.00 USD Annual (Target 125K with 15% MIP)
