Job Description:
The Professor/Instructor is responsible for responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students. The Professor/Instructor is expected to teach courses related to one or more of the following: Electrical and Electronics theory, Canadian electrical code, Trade Practices, Installation and Maintenance Methods, Electrical Drawings, and Communications and documentation, as part of the Electrician (construction and maintenance) apprenticeship program.
The teaching of assigned courses, including:
delivery of regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall, Winter, or Summer
ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques
providing tutoring and academic advising for students both in and out of class
providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies and the College approved Learning Management System
evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses
the development and creation of a learning environment that is conducive to success for all
providing guidance to students, to instructors, and to part-time professors relative to the professor’s teaching assignments
Expected courses to fill:
Electrical and Electronics theory, Canadian electrical code, Trade Practices, Installation and Maintenance Methods, Electrical Drawings, and Communications and documentation, others as required.
Required Qualifications:
Red Seal Certification as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A)
Minimum 5 (five) years practical experience working in the trade as an electrician since the date of license (please include license number in the application).
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset.
Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills and demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners.
Assets
Masters Electrician License
Certificate of Apprenticeship as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician or Industrial Electrician
Member of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association
Teaching experience in a postsecondary setting.
