Job Details
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated leader to head our Cybersecurity Perimeter Engineering Team. This critical role will be accountable for engineering, implementing, and managing advanced security capabilities, standards and procedures to harden our network perimeter, and effectively detect and block threats. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity engineering, physical and virtual network security, and a proven track record of leading teams to achieve security objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
Lead and mentor the Cybersecurity Perimeter Engineering Team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Define team goals and performance metrics aligned with the organization's cybersecurity strategy and objectives.
Manage team resources, including workload distribution, skill development, and performance evaluations.
Network Perimeter Hardening
Oversee the ongoing configuration of perimeter security devices, including firewalls (configurations and rules), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS/NDR), Web Application (WAF), Edge Routers, Load Balancers.
Design and implement robust security architectures to harden the network perimeter against external threats and vulnerabilities.
Conduct hardening assessments to identify noncompliance to standards and define remediation requirements.
Threat Detection and Response Capabilities
Develop and implement processes and technologies for real-time monitoring, detection, and response to suspicious activities at the network perimeter.
Collaborate with incident response teams to ensure effective investigation and remediation of security incidents.
Establish and refine alerting mechanisms to prioritize and escalate security incidents based.
Policy Development and Compliance
Create and maintain technical security standards, for all perimeter and network technologies.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, security frameworks, and organizational policies.
Prepare and present regular reports on perimeter security status and hardening compliance to senior management and stakeholders.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with other cybersecurity teams, IT departments, and business units to ensure cohesive security practices across the organization.
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to promote understanding of perimeter security risks and solutions.
Provide training and knowledge transfer to team members and other staff on perimeter security technologies and processes.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
Stay up-to-date with emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies; evaluate and recommend new tools and solutions to enhance perimeter security.
Analyze security incidents and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive initiatives to enhance security posture.
Promote a proactive approach to security, encouraging research and experimentation with new technologies and methodologies.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Eight (8) years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, with at least five (5) years focused on network security and perimeter defense.
Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex cybersecurity projects.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CEH) are highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge of network security technologies and protocols (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, etc.) and best practices.
Experience with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and regulatory compliance requirements.
Proficiency in security monitoring and incident response tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Prior managerial experience - required
Enterprise level experience - highly desired

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
