The College of Education and Human Development's Department of Research, Counseling, and Curriculum at Augusta University seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Counselor Education who will hold an administrative post as the inaugural Clinical Coordinator of the Counselor Education Training Center (CETC) responsible for the overall management and maintenance of clinical services provided at the CETC. The position will coordinate with Counselor Education Program faculty to provide supervision and instruction of counselor education students enrolled in clinical courses (practicum/internship). The position is a 12-month, non-tenure track position comprised of teaching, clinical, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 60%
Teach clinical courses (practicum/internship) offered by the Counselor Education Program.
Developing and updating the curriculum.
Teaching and advising graduate students.
Managing courses through the systematic use of syllabi.
Keeping accurate records of student's class performance, attendance, and grades, and adopting and implementing common course objectives.

Participating in the assessment of student learning outcomes.Administrative - 30%
Supervise students enrolled in clinical courses and who provide counseling services at the CETC.
Collaborate with the Director of the Student Counseling & Psychological Services (SCAPS) regarding the provision of counseling and support services at the CETC.
Provide supervision for students regarding client issues and case conceptualization in individual, triadic, and group formats.
Manage emergency situations and develop emergency response plan.
Collaborate with the Counselor Education Program (CEP) Practicum and Internship Coordinator.
Provided orientation regarding policies and procedures to students each semester.
Disseminate information to community mental health agencies regarding free counseling services.
Oversee and manage grad. students and/or students.
Oversee the management, maintenance, and security of the facility.
Prepare annual budget and strategic plan to Dean of COEHD.
Seek and secure funding to support the CETC.
Create and maintain student Field Experience Manual and related documentation regarding services provided at the CETC (i.e., HIPAA, Informed Consent, Waivers, Liability Insurance, etc.).
Maintain client data utilizing a secure system of collection, storage, and retrieval.
Oversee program evaluation regarding the services rendered to clients.
Service - 10%
Provide service to the department (e.g., certificate coordinator), college, university, community and profession.
Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Required Qualifications
Earned master's degree or above in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program.
At least three years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and/or college students as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), preferably in Georgia.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program.
Experience supervising practicum/internship students enrolled in master's level counseling program.
Experience teaching practicum/internship students enrolled in master's level counseling program.
Current credentials as certified supervisor (i.e. ACS, CPCS) and/or eligibility to earn credentials as certified supervisor in GA.
Extensive clinical experience working with varying populations.
Experience utilizing data and program evaluation to enhance the provision of clinical services.
Experience with grant writing to secure funding.
Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems.
Familiarity with principles and practice of using statistical analyses.
Familiarity with CACREP accreditation standards.
Experience working in a university counseling center.
Experience with data presentation.
Experience with crisis intervention.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
