Engages in a program of “on-the-job” training to provide behavioral health services to clients of the counseling center. Practicum students observe, learn, and use basic skills for behavioral health work consistent with the requirements of their academic institution. Interns provide outpatient behavioral health services including diagnostic evaluations and psychotherapeutic treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, couple, and group therapy; provides consultation and educational services to community groups and agencies in a manner which respects diversity.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Provides clinical support as defined by the level of care and service needs of the population served. Specific treatment expectations are defined by licensing and accreditation standards for each level of care and internship expectations as agreed upon between the student, school, and program. 

2. Assists with comprehensive assessments consistent with needs of the population served.  

3. Collaborates on the development of treatment plans consistent with regulations as required by the funder/licensor. Participates in treatment planning conferences.  

4. Provides case management through brief therapeutic 1:1 interventions to coordinate aftercare referrals and discharge planning consistent with regulations and the level of care. Consults and collaborates with collateral contacts and providers as appropriate for the level of care. 

5. Coordinates and facilitates individual or group interventions to address the clinical needs of the needs of the population served. 

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

1. Undergraduate student must be in a Bachelor's degree program in social work, counseling, public health, or related field. Or may be a practicum student in a Masters or Doctoral degree level program in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, or related program.

2. Some positions require a current valid US-issued driver's license and a registered, inspected, and insured automobile for work related purposes.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

1. Strong communication and organizational skills. 

2. Detail oriented. 

3. Willingness to learn.  

4. Able to effectively work alone, and as part of a team. 

ADDENDUM FOR CCBHC 

Major Responsibilities 

1. Complete CCBHC Diagnostic Evaluations with individuals and families within the required timeframes: Same Day – 24 hours, Urgent – 48 hours, Routine – 14 days. 

2. Complete CCBHC Diagnostic Evaluations within contractual and agency requirements 

 

 

ADDENDUM FOR Clinical Team   

Major Responsibilities: 

1. Coordinate and develop treatment plans consistent with Department of Developmental Services ISP or IEP regulations as required 

2. Provide therapy and/or crisis assessment and planning in the community as required by the DDS contract.

 

ADDENDUM FORGeriatric Team  

Major Responsibilities: 

1. Provides services to individuals in nursing facilities.

2. Coordinates services with staff in nursing facilities.

 

ADDENDUM FOR STEP 

Major Responsibilities: 

1. Participates as a member of the STEP team consistent with the Coordinated Specialty Care model.

2. Provides individual, family, and group therapy consistent with the CSC model and the McFarlane Multifamily Group model.

3. Participates in trainings and collaborative activities as a member of the STEP team.

Major Responsibilities:  

1. Develop, in collaboration with the central intake team and clinic directors, groups to address the clinical needs of the population we serve and those requesting services.
